Biography

Cyril arrived in England at 7 years old as a child fleeing the Biafran/Nigerian civil war. After leaving school he studied at the Bristol Old Vic School before joining the Royal Shakespeare company. As well as the RSC he has been a member of National Theatre Co’; The Royal Court; The Manchester Royal Exchange and the Old Vic Company to name but a few. On radio Cyril is a seasoned performer with over 50 Radio plays to his name.

His TV work has also been plentiful with credits such as Eastenders; This Life; Pie in The Sky; Arabian Nights; Calling The Shots; Family Affairs and Goodnight Sweetheart, but many of you will know Cyril from his role as British TV drama’s highest ranking Black police officer: Suprintendent Adam Okaro in The Bill.

Since leaving The Bill in the summer of 2006 Cyril has returned to the stage playing amongst others such roles as “Othello”, “Emmanuel” in the collectively Olivier Award nominated cast of “Oxford Street” at the Royal Court and not one, but four critically acclaimed roles in The National theatre’s 2009 production “The Observer”. On TV Cyril has continued to guest star in dramas such as “Waking the Dead”, “Law and Order UK” and most recently in the Doctor Who spin-off “The Sarah Jane Adventures”.
